MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) urged the public, particularly those planning international travel, to apply for or renew their passports as early as possible.
The DFA issued the advisory on Tuesday amid the holiday season and "demand for passport services was expected to surge."
"Early application will help ensure timely processing, avoid inconvenience, and prevent disruptions to travel plans due to passport validity issues," the DFA posted on X (formerly Twitter).
It also reminded travelers to avoid booking flights or submitting visa applications without a passport that was valid for at least six months beyond the intended travel date.
Airlines and travel agencies are also advised to inform their clients of this requirement to prevent inconvenience during airport check-ins and processing in immigration controls.
To streamline the process and reduce delays, applicants are urged to secure an online appointment through the DFA's official consular website and prepare all required documents before their scheduled appointment.
The website provides comprehensive guidance on the passport application process and necessary requirements.
The DFA said it "appreciates the public's cooperation in ensuring a smooth and efficient passport application experience during the holiday season."
